The gold goddesses are here! There is no surprise that Dolce & Gabbana offers collection after collection of spectacular silhouettes but we are still amazed when seeing a new collection.
The Spring/Summer 2014 collection draw it’s inspiration from the Greek ancient temples and theatres and it is built around one simple element: the flower of the almond tree which was a heavily featured motif on today’s catwalk. The Dolce & Gabbana’s spring women is adorned with miniature roses and delicate flowers and more romantic accents such as large polka dots, the iconic column heels and intricate wedges.
Lithographs of temples were printed on duchesse silk and linen; accessories were inspired by ancient Greek coins and transformed in oversize belts, earrings and headbands or added as details to shoes and handbags.
Soft tunics with wide sleeves and soft elongated waists provided a diversion from the classic Dolce & Gabbana silhouette. Besides the warrior and romantic goddess silhouettes, the Italian label gave a modern spin to Artemis, the goddess of hunting, bringing on the catwalk the colored fur.
